King Fahd Medical City, in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has started the practical implementation of first joint cooperation initiative between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan under the Saudi-Japanese joint vision 2030 by organizing the first workshop to improve and develop the quality of work in the health field.

The workshop, in cooperation with Japanese experts, seeks to implement Kaizen methodology, which is based on the continuous improvement of the quality of the health facilities and developing the performance, the work environment and the services provided to the patients

"JICA has chosen King Fahd Medical City to be one of the first health facilities to implement the Kaizen methodology, as it started its initial stages in a number of its vital hospitals and vital centers then publicize the experience in full according to the schedule of the implementation plan." said Suzanne Rashid, the supervisor of the program in the Medical City.

She added that "The workshop aims to train participants to adopt Kaizen tools and objectives which will have a positive impact on patients care and on the services provided to them, and apply the highest international standards to improve the experience and the quality of health work."

It is worth noting that Kaizen is an old Japanese strategy which aims at changing to the better. It is also a means to achieve continuous improvement. It is a philosophy developed by Taiichi Ohno to lead the industrial and financial institutions, as well as its applicability in all aspects of life, depending on the analysis and the practicability in the fields of work.
