Clinical Research Training Course (CRTC) for Health Care providers:
The course contains three lectures and three workshops spread over two consecutive half days. It focuses on study designs used in clinical research with emphasis on advantages and disadvantages of each as well as basic measurements of epidemiology and basics of biostatistics.
How to write a Research Proposal Workshop:
The goal of this full day workshop is to teach systematically the process by which one takes a conceptual idea for a clinical research project and converts it into a research proposal or grant application. A detailed description of the proposal anatomy and tips to write a successful grant proposal with particular emphasis on budget calculation and reviewers considerations are shared.
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Training Course:
GCP is the international ethical and scientific standard expected in all stages of design, conduct, and reporting of clinical trials. The course is intended to raise the clinicians' awareness of GCP before embarking on any clinical research. It is a one full day activity that explains the importance of GCP and defines the investigator responsibilities in clinical trials as well as the submission guidelines to the IRB at KFMC taking into account mutual responsibilities to ensure patient safety.
How to Write a Manuscript Workshop
The purpose of the workshop is to educate investigators about the overall organization of a manuscript and the structure and function of each of the components. The journey of manuscript submission and peer review process are explained to the participants with tips and guidance to respond to the reviewers' comments. This 3-hour workshop is expected to encourage the investigators to produce a complete and polished manuscript suitable for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.
Introduction & Application of SPSS
It is a software used for data analysis in research and can be used for processing questionnaires, reporting in tables and graphs as well as analyzing means, chi-square, and regression. The course aims to give hands-on training of SPSS Software and to familiarize the attendees about the steps for data entry and data cleaning and to enhance their knowledge about the basic concepts of statistics. By the end of this workshop, the participants can understand as how to operate and enter the data into SPSS for analysis.
How to Search PubMed Effectively
PubMed is a free resource that provides access to MEDLINE, the National Library of Medicine database of citations and abstracts in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, health care systems, and preclinical sciences. The goals and objectives of this course are to make the attendees understand PubMed's scope and content and build a search using PubMed search tools. This course is helpful to learn how to manage your results, save records of interest and search strategies. The course also describes the use the different filters, selecting the articles for bibliography, and getting a full article for critical appraisal of evidence.
Critical Appraisal of Medical literature
The Critical Appraisal of medical literature course aims to help KFMC staff to develop the necessary skills to make sense of scientific evidence, and provide relevant appraisal checklists covering validity, results, and relevance. Critical appraisal is the process of carefully and systematically examining research to judge its trustworthiness, its value, and relevance in a particular context. Critical appraisal of medical literature is useful as it allows researchers to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a piece of research as well as enable identification of bias and confounders in research. This half day course is specially designed for healthcare professionals who want to improve their critical appraisal knowledge and skills.
