World Blood Donation Day

KFMC held an awareness day on the occasion of the World Blood Donation Day in the presence of Dr. Abdul Salam Al Zaharany, the acting Associate Executive Director of Medical Administrations, in celebration of motivating the society to save the patients' lives.

Statistics indicate that one out of each ten patients admitting the hospital needs blood transfusion, particularly patients suffering from malignant and incurable diseases, and operations, particularly, open-heart surgeries and caesarean delivery along with traffic accidents injuries.

Further, statistics also indicated that the donor acquiring many health benefits by blood donation such as increasing the bone marrow activity to produce new quantities of cells (Red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets), increasing blood circulation, and reducing heart disease and clogged arteries along with preventing accumulation of iron in the blood for patients suffering from iron overload such as Hemochromatosis.

Afterwards, Dr. Al Zaharany honored many blood donors who contributed with their bloods in assisting the needed patients along with honoring the departments supporting the blood bank in blood donation campaigns.
