King Fahad Medical City has launched an initiative entitled "Educating Community" by holding a number of specialized workshops to discuss vital issues about public health and disease prevention through practicing direct activities in mosques, schools, universities and residential districts.

Dr. Mushabab Assiri, Executive Director of Medical Affairs, said that this initiative is one of the pillars of the National Transformation Program in the health sector which aims at developing suitable solutions to control and overcome health problems before being developed, especially lifestyle diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart diseases.

Dr. Assiri added that the initiative aims at improving the citizens' health outcomes in the future and facilitate their access to health services through early detection and follow-up. He pointed out that achieving these objectives will lead to a comprehensive health care based on the highest international standards.

The initiative seeks raising the community awareness about the importance of diseases early detection and prevention; and hypertension and diabetes examination through field visits made by a specialized medical team (doctors, nurses and technicians); distributing educational and awareness booklets; and raising awareness about the importance of having a first aid kit at home with knowing how to use it.
