King Salman Heart Center (KSHC) at King Fahd Medical City (KFMC) in Riyadh is reported to have performed more than 15,000 diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations and 5,000 cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgeries.

Mahmoud Abdul-Jabbar Al-Yamany, CEO of KFMC said: “The Medical City has a prominent position in the Kingdom’s ongoing development of medical excellence. KSHC will continue to be on the expansion course.”
Al-Yamany praised the support of Minister of Health Tawfeek Al-Rabiah and his concern to complete such health projects and provide highest quality specialized services for patients in accordance with the Kingdom’s health strategy.
Dr. Fahad Al-Ghofaili, medical director at KSHC, said: “KSHC was opened on Dec. 5, 2005, with the support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman who was then the governor of Riyadh. Since then, KSHC is honored to bear his name and still enjoys his support.”
According to Al-Ghofaili, 2016 marked an increase in the number of in-patients and of adult and pediatric surgeries due to KSHC’s human resources who are dedicated to serve the patients.
Until the end of October, KSHC performed 6,035 adult cardiac catheterizations, 405 pediatric cardiac catheterizations and 975 cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgeries. In addition, it admitted 1,628 critical cases and 3,179 noncritical cases. Also, KSHC received 28,291 adult and pediatric patients who were treated as in- and out-patients in the various KSHC departments and specializations.
According to Al-Ghofaili, KSHC has five units equipped with advanced digital technology, for heart diseases, heart surgery, pediatric and adult vascular problems, cardiac intensive care, and thoracic surgery.
Also, KSHC has four operating rooms, four cardiac catheterization rooms, and electrophysiological cardiac catheterization laboratory, two hybrid laboratories for vascular and pediatric heart diseases — considered the first of its kind in the Middle East.
