The accreditation of the Stroke Program at King Fahd Medical City (KFMC) was recently renewed by the Joint Commission International (JCI) for accreditation of medical facilities until 2019, after fulfilling all quality requirements evaluated at the field by JCI team; which represents an additional and important success for the development of patient services.

The founder of the program, Dr. Fahmi AlSenani, Stroke Consultant and Executive Director of Academic and Training Affairs at KFMC, said that it is the only recognized program in the Kingdom and that it includes high-quality health care under the supervision of well-trained medical staff to provide the best treatment and diagnostic services by specialists in various fields of rehabilitation such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy in addition to doctors specializing in medical rehabilitation.

Al-Senani clarified that the renewal of JCI accreditation is a result of applying quality and patient safety standards to the provided services.

Dr. Mohammed Maiman, Head of the current Stroke Program, said that JCI sends its delegates to review how the program is applied by the staff, interview all employees, patients and their relatives, and meet with outpatients to ask about the quality of service.

"This has given us a tremendous feeling of care towards the patients as our work is internationally recognized by a global health standard, and we feel that this will reflect on the rest of the hospitals in the Kingdom to raise their performance and improve the quality of their services. Undoubtedly, this recognition is a part of achieving KFMC's goals to deliver a world-class quality compared to any medical facility in the world," he added.
