According to recent studies, KFMC CEO Dr. Fahad Al-Ghofaili assured that the disability percentage in KSA reaches 8% of the population, pointing out that KSA has the highest percentage worldwide in the rate of spinal cord injuries as there are about 62 injuries per each million people, most of which are attributed to road traffic accidents. KSA ranks first in connection with financial and human losses and disabilities. Financial losses due to such accidents are estimated at 26 billion Saudi Riyals per year, indicating that they cause death of 16 people every day and injury of 35 others with chronic disabilities.

This came during yesterday's KFMC Rehabilitation Hospital celebration of the International Disability Day in the presence and participation of a number of individuals with high spirit.

"This event is designed to get persons with disability integrated into the community; raise their awareness about rehabilitation services rendered by KFMC which thereby the natural course of life can be restored; support them to be familiar with their rights and duties; bring them joy; and support them psychologically", Dr. Al-Ghofaili added.

The event included a number of activities and events associated with this celebration, in addition to the participation of a number of companies and external entities to introduce products that help people with disabilities to move towards independency.
