King Fahd Medical City (KFMC) held an annual forum for the Continuous Professional Development and hosted the SCFHS Secretary-General Prof Ayman bin Asaad Abdo. The forum included two sessions and a simple outdoor exhibition. The main session was titled "partnership between providers of medical education in the kingdom and the commission of health specialties". The second session came under the rubric "partnership between Providers of continuous professional development: looking at the past and planning for future ".

In a keynote speech during the forum, Dr. Mansour Al Fadel, director of the Continuous Professional Development Administration in KFMC said that all health practitioners need to continue their lifelong learning in order to provide the highest possible health service level.

"The continuous medical education programs aim at promoting knowledge and skills of the targeted health practitioners and improving their competence and performance", he added.

For his part, Prof.  Ayman Abdo, spokesman for the forum, said: "This forum is a qualitative forum; I have not ever attended a conference on the continuous medical education, adding that the KFMC took the lead in hosting such forum. In the commission, we have benefited from such elite people, who attend the forum and listened to and exchanged points of view in order to overcome obstacles and meet the needs of the nation in this field in line with the National Transformation Program 2020 and the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which have brought a real change in the way of health practice. Hence, this should be accompanied by providing further development and education for more than 500,000 registered health practitioners In the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, practicing the profession at a rate of 30 years."

He noted: "This forum and the continuous development of health practitioners in general is mainly meant to improve and consolidate the health service provided in the Kingdom, as the health system adopted by the Ministry of Health aim at preventing diseases before occurrence through prevention; therefore, we should change our way in the health practice through the continuous training and development."

It is worth mentioning that the forum aims at consolidating relation between the continuous professional development providers and the the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and assessing the training needs through results and recommendations in addition to enhancing channels of communication between officials and those interested in medical education in the Kingdom and discussing the specialized topics in this regard.
