The medical laboratories of King Fahad Medical City (KFMC) obtained a renewal of accreditation by College of American Pathologists (CAP) after being accredited for the first time in 2016.

Dr. Fahad Al Ghofaily, KFMC CEO, said: "KFMC provides specialized health care services based on the implementation of quality and safety standards for patients, which lead to obtaining international accreditations in health field."

"KFMC laboratories perform more than 7 million lab tests throughout the year. The quality of its tests is 60 to 70% of the correct diagnosis of any disease, which contributes to the rationalization of expenses; as labs of any organization account for 5% of total expenditure. Thus, KFMC adds a new accreditation to several international accreditations proving that KFMC ranks first as a health facility under the supervision of KSA Ministry of Health, thanks to the unlimited support of the wise leadership and H.E. the Minister of Health to provide high-quality health services that is positively reflected on development of health services in general" Dr. Al Ghofaily mentioned.

On his part, Dr. Mousa Fakih, Director of Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Medicine Administration at KFMC, said that CAP is a worldwide association with 7,000 laboratories around the world, mainly in the USA, explaining that CAP is considered the real reference for accreditation of laboratory quality all over the world. KFMC laboratories obtained the first accreditation in October 2016, and today we obtained a renewal of accreditation two years later.
