Definition:
The pharmacy department in king fahad medical city contributes, along with other health care profession, in enhancing the patient’s medial condition by promote safe, accurate, efficient, rational cost-effective use of medications and to collabora with managing patients’ drug therapy. This should be done in the context of an accurate and nursing/patient friendly drug distribution system that provides all medication in a timely manner. in addition to participate in research, clinical studies and training programs.
Objectives:
Apply and practice pharmaceutical care in all medical city pharmacies
Optimization of drug therapy through direct interaction with patients and other health care profession (e.g. Nurses, Physicians, other disciplines)
Monitoring for efficacy and toxicity of drug therapy.
Identifying, resolving and preventing potential and actual drug-related problems.
Provide drug and poison information for all health care profession
Participate in research work, clinical studies and training programs
Inservice education to all disciplines.
Participate in P&T committee and other hospital committees
Participate in preparing and inforcing drug adminstration protocol and guidline.
Provide awareness programs to educate and counsel patients on proper use of medications.
Teaching & training undergraduate and post-graduate students from the Faculty of Pharmacy and medicine
