King Fahd Medical City, represented by the Respiratory Care Department, recently earned the American Association for Respiratory Care’s (AARC) Quality Respiratory Care Recognition Award (QRCR), making KFMC the first non American hospital to win this award.
Dr. Abdullah bin Sulaiman Alamro, CEO of KFMC, said that the award is considered a great accomplishment for KFMC and a considerable indicator of the medical city's commitment to meet the QRCR requirements. He pointed out that wining the QRCR award upgrades the efficiency of the provided medical services to patients and in which meets the Medical City staffs' aspirations to make KFMC a referential hospital which is compliant to international standards in many medical specialties. Dr. Alamro added that all the accomplishments and development at KFMC have been thanks to our leadership support as well as H.E. the Minister of Health's, which contributed effectively in overcome the faced obstacles, enhance performance level and achieve continuous accomplishments.
Professor Abdullah Alsuwaid, Head of the Respiratory Care Department, pointed out the American Association for Respiratory Care’s (AARC) Quality Respiratory Care Recognition Award is a major accomplishment, especially that only 700 US hospitals, 15% of all US hospitals, have won this award. Thanks God, KFMC is the first hospital outside the United States to win such award.
Alsuwaid added that this recognition was within the program to develop respiratory care services aimed at upgrading the provided services to patients through applying a set of high standards in the area of respiratory care services. He also pointed out that KFMC won this certification due to their high quality respiratory care services provided 24 hours a day which aims to provide accurate diagnose and treatment for patients. He added that Respiratory Care Department adopted updated evidence-based laws and regulations, set services' review and control system, as well as joining the respiratory services quality program (AARC-Benchmark), which is considered a significant program due to its transparency in respiratory care level and quality. He added that a committee has been formed at the Department to monitor, review and promote such services.
The Head of the Respiratory Care Department stressed that winning QRCR required constant efforts to set and develop policies and procedures integrated clinical patricians.
Moreover, the American Association for Respiratory Care has a membership of more than 46,000 respiratory care practitioners in such field. AARC was established in 2004 to assist patients to reach facilities with highly qualified specialists and technicians.
Respiratory care specialists are highly well trained and work to provide a wide range of respiratory care services for people who suffers from respiratory diseases, such as asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, AIDS and other respiratory or lungs diseases.
They are also highly qualified to help premature infants and members of the in charge emergencies medical teams.
