
Dr. Alamro Wins the 7th Middle East CEO of the Year Award
Middle East Excellence Awards Institute awarded Dr. Abdullah bin Sulaiman Alamro, Chief Executive Officer of King Fahd Medical City, the 2010 7th Middle East CEO of the Year Award for Healthcare. Dr. Al-Amro received the award during a ceremony held by the named institute at Burj AlArab Hotel in Dubai, UAE, on Jumada I7, 1431 corresponding to April 21, 2010, attended by a great number of decision makers, executive leaders, VIPs, officials and CEOs of governmental bodies, business sector, regional and International organizations and diplomatic corps in UAE.
After receiving the award, Dr. Alamro stated that health institution's success lay in drawing up strategic plans and having a unified team seeking to implement such plans with high precision and raising them to the desired degrees of satisfaction. He added that a successful leader is he who can make second line of successful leaders.
Middle East Excellence Awards Institute stated that a number of executive leaders in the Middle East competed to win the award of 2010 on the basis of the standards adopted by the institute. CEOs who have been selected and honored played outstanding roles in the promotion of the concept of successful leadership and outstanding performance at governmental and private institutions, especially because today's world only recognizes those who can make contributions.
The award came at a time when government and private institutions in the Middle East have been undergoing strategic development of leadership and administrative thinking during an age witnessing flow of information and strategic concepts and perceptions of modern technological and administrative projects, which requires rethinking in modern leadership methods at institutions and how to promote and raise their performance level in conformity with the 2020 strategies changes, building the culture of treatment and how to convey such leadership ideas to help the success and leadership of development projects by institutions, re-habilitation of leaderships, CEOs and officials, in particular, with a view to gaining an independent reference leadership capable of excellence, creativity and development of opportunities.
The award is annually given to leaders, CEOs, decision makers and major executives in governmental and economic sectors who have made effective economic and administrative achievements and for their outstanding role in the new global economy. The award aims to identify those who have contributed through their successful views to their institutions' success and those who have been able to make use of opportunities available locally, regionally and globally so as to realize their institutions' strategic objectives in the light of economic variables and challenges.
It is worth stating that Dr. Alamro holds US Board in Radiation Oncology, Canadian Fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1995, Fellowship in Brachytherapy (Ottawa University). Fellowship in Radiology Surgery (McGill in Canada). He is the Chairman of the Saudi Cancer Society board of directors and has taken part in the establishment of a number of health programs in some Saudi hospitals. He has attended international health scientific conferences and has published more than 15 papers.
